reminiscent green
This footage was taken from inside looking out through our marked studio window. The music being played in our studio is taken from our new album ‘reminiscence’, hopefully due out early this year on Slow Flow Rec. The other incidental sounds, or perhaps they could be thought of as marks on the music, are heard as if inside, although some of these sounds origin however, are not.
‘reminiscent green’ explores a relationship created from two locations, the inside and the outside, articulated through what we see and what we hear. In this short work, we can neither hear what we see, or see what we hear, yet we can imagine.
Something that we have been thinking and experiencing recently is the spill of sound from one place to another, and how a knowledge of this sounds origin can play a significant role in how that sound is heard or listened to.
This understanding of the sound or its context, seems to play a significant role in altering that point of shift from when we are merely hearing this sound, to when we are listening to it. Moreover, when a sound is listened to from inside, it’s origins coming from outside, is this sound still to be understood as coming from outside, or should it be understood as simply sound inside? as surely this is where it is being listened to.
Theses sounds being heard or listened to have been characterized by the inside, and perhaps in the case of ‘reminiscent green’, these sounds have developed a more domestic quality, contributing to a picture in ones mind of our studio space.
