Preview To World Listening Day Performance

We will be playing as part of the World Listening Day Preview held at Cafe Oto, FRIDAY 16th July, exploring the sounds of East Londons Soundscape, along with many other artists.

“Fruit for the Apocalypse invite you to participate in a preview of East London Soundscapes at Cafe Oto. East London Soundscapes has been created for the first World Listening Day, which happens in a secret location on Sunday, July 18, 2010. The purposes of World Listening Day are to celebrate the practice of listening as it relates to the world around us, environmental awareness, and acoustic ecology to raise awareness about issues related to the World Soundscape Project, World Listening Project, World Forum for Acoustic Ecology, and individual and group efforts to creatively explore phonography.”

Soundfjord preview day

Yesterday we visited the new sound art gallery ‘Soundfjord’ on their first open day. The new gallery is based in north London, Seven Sisters, and is a charming space ideally suited for two smaller collaborative projects or a singles artists work. The open day was an excellent opportunity for artists/sound artists to meet and share with others working in similar fields around them.
Helen and Andy are the lovely people behind this new exciting project Soundfjord, both bringing an interesting view on how a galleries specifying in sound art can be more accommodating to the field of sound art. Soundfjord already bosts an exciting line up of artists and assures of a huge response and interest from many other artists, and if the turn out of this first open day is anything to go by, it is surely going to be a very exciting time for emerging sound artists.
Soundfjord’s first work is from artist Yann Novak, owner of Dragon’s Eye Recordings, whose work will be in two parts shared over two months entitled ‘Subtropical’ and ‘Oceanic’.

Soundfjord says this about Yanns work…

Site redesign and NEW website coming soon

Moize.net will undergo a dramatic redesign in the coming weeks, with also the launch of Lucia’s own new personal website.

Currently moize.net is designed in such a way that doesn’t function correctly for the way we work, trying to be too many things and really failing to do any of them well. Subsequently it doesn’t get updated nearly as much as it should be.
The plan is to design both moize.net and luciahchung.com in a similar way concentrating them more as portfolios than blogs. It seems as much as we try we just don’t seem to be the blogging type.
I hope and aim to get them both up and running nearing the end of June and am very much looking forward to launching the new improved design.

Live at Unit 3.03, Coming May

We are very pleased to announce our latest work, a recording of our live debut performance taken back in May at our studio. This will be an mp3 release by Yann Novak’s incredible Dragon’s Eye Recordings, of which we are very pleased about.
The artwork used for the cover was a gift given to us on the day of the performance by the very talented and close friend Kimvi Nguyen.

Sing

We are very thankful to be included on the second compilation released on duckbay records entitled ‘sing’. Our contribution is called ‘Frosted Window’ and portrays the experience and enjoyment found when observing the blending and transformations of colours and patterns of the outside world while looking out through a frosted window, all whilst in the comfort of a warm home.

Frosted Window was created using a music box, and field recordings taken in our first home together in London, of the inside and outside sounds heard and listened to together. These sounds were delicately processed in a way that we hope creates the desired effect.

We hope you can enjoy our contribution and all the others that can be found on this great compilation released on db.

Seiren, Murmur Records. Reviewed by Stephen Fruitman

“One of the most deftly accomplished minimal pieces I´ve heard.” - Stephen Fruitman, sonomu.net

We have recently received a really touching and great review from the equally great Stephen Fruitman over at sonomu.net. He was kind enough to let us use his review on moize.net, but please do go over to sonomu.net to read through his other great reviews.

Thank you Stephen.

“An attempt to portray that special moment when you gaze out toward the horizon and the sea is so still its surface cannot be distinguished from the sky. The gentle quiet of this piece is profound…”

Cut & Splice: Living Rooms

Recently we both had the pleasure of meeting with sound artist Felicty Ford, and was involved in a discussion that she organised for the podcast Cut and Splice program series: Living Rooms. We met with Felicity and other sound artists to discuss domestic soundscapes, sonic wallpaper and many views on how we understand and relate to sound within our own sonic environment and the sonic environment around us.

Seiren - mimosa|moize Debut Album

We are very pleased to announce the release of our first album ‘Seiren’. We have been very lucky and honored to have been picked up by the new Japanese label Murmur Records run by Yuki and Emi of Liquid weeld. Murmur Records have been excellent in providing us the support and understanding for our conceptual album, and choosing to master at a much lower volume than we thought they would be willing, which means a great deal to us. The album is one track approximately 53 minutes in length, of delicate resonant sounds to drift into your listening environment, ideally suited to be played through speakers.
